Energetic and lyrical, driving and poetic, Night Sun is one of the rare acts that can both “break your heart and get you up and clapping” with a melange of accordion, clarinet, mandolin, whistles, skin drums, guitars, and warm, passionate vocals.

Originally from Canada’s Northwest Territories, Night Sun is now based in Kingston Ontario, and constant performing is earning them a strong grassroots following. Their previous album “Home” was hailed as “one of the year’s best” by the Kingston Whig Standard, the Southam News Entertainment Editors, and Billboard Magazine.

“One Moment of Grace,” their first album on the Borealis label, illustrates their reputation for excellent musicianship, eclectic stylings, intelligent songwriting, and imaginative performances. The thirteen tracks range from inspiring anthems (“One Moment of Grace,” ) to achingly evocative love songs ( “Breathing,” “Babe”) to country-tinged laments (“Didn’t I Try”) to irresistably danceable songs (“Harvey and Lousie”) to provocative songs touching on social issues (“Old Woman,” “I’ll Hold On”). Celtic, Klezmer, Cajun, Bluegrass, Greek and other influences pop up when you’re least expecting them. And through it all are the hypnotic rhythms, haunting melodies, compelling vocals, and infectious spirit that pervades everything Night Sun does.

Produced by Bill Garrett, the album includes guest appearances from Terry Tufts, Jane Siberry, Carolyn Stewart, Ken Hall, and Debbie Robertson.
