Gather Honey
Penny Lang
CD BCD137
Penny Lang emerged on the
North American music scene in the 1960's. Her powerful interpretations and originals in folk, blues, country and
gospel styles have gained her a large and devoted following among musicians and music-lovers alike. Penny's reputation
as "first lady of Canadian folk," is a-well deserved tribute to a woman who has sung the blues and paid
her dues. Her new album "Gather Honey" is a collection of never released live and studio recordings that
span almost two decades. Beginning in the early sixties with the traditional "Black Girl" to Penny's
own "Senses Of Your Leave" the CD not only traces Penny's career but in many ways shows how folk/roots
music has developed in Canada.
