Encanto
Rukanas
CD BCD155
The music of the Andes is greatly
varied and differs not only from country to country but frequently from region to region. On "Encanto"
Rukanas combine musical styles from Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in the sounds of the guitar, mandolin and charango
(European string instruments) and in the sounds of the quena (bamboo flute) and zampoña (pan flute) of pre-Hispanic
origins. Together they create music that is synonymous with dynamism, constant transformation and in search of
new horizons. Now based in Toronto Rukanas gives testimony of the vitality with which Andean musical culture presents
itself to a global world.
