Tom Lewis
A Tom Lewis knows the sea - from the bottom up! As a 24-year veteran of the British Submarine Service, he brings a wealth of experience and a rare authenticity to the realm or nautical song. His songs are known and sung wherever great choruses ring out. With a powerful delivery anchored firmly in his native Celtic style, Tom's repertoire; from traditional shanties to songs fashioned from his own seafaring background; recruits his audience for a voyage by turns reflective, dramatic and humorous. In a word - entertaining!

Born in Belfast, Northern Island, his Irish heritage is obvious in his clear, strong voice, evoking the quiet sorrow of a fisherman lost to the sea just as honestly as it powers out a shanty "to be heard from the gales". Tom accompanies himself on button accordion and ukelele - but it's his voice - and salty stories - that will bring you back to hear him again and again,

Tom¹s latest release for Borealis 360° is a vibrant mix of songs that convey Tom's abiding passion for singable songs from, quite literally, all points of the compass!

"If there is a folk equivalent to Bye, Bye, Miss American Pie, it is Radio Times by Tom Lewis."

-Shelley Posen, Sing Out

"Thoroughly entertaining ... brimming with robustly resonant harmonies and songs, by turns traditional and contemporary, thoughtful and whimsical."

-Mike Joyce, The Washington Post
