Melwood Cutlery
A consummate
songwriter and performer, Melwood Cutlery has delighted audiences from Dawson City, Yukon to Austin, Texas.
His songwriting ability moves seamlessly from ballads and lullabies to folk, country, blues and rock. Campfire,
Melwood's first release on Borealis, delivers the powerful range of style and emotion that have become Melwood's
trademark sound. From the intimate acoustics of "Jimmy's Room" to the hard-hitting commentary of "Walkerton",
he brings a strong new voice while reconnecting with his Highway 7 roots in his hometown, Ottawa, Ontario.
Melwood has been known to yodel when the occasion demands. He has performed across Canada, received airplay in
the U.S. and Europe, and continues to inspire audiences wherever he plays.
Melwood got his first guitar at the age of ten. Singing came naturally, so he taught himself to play guitar, then
hit the church basement/high school circuit until the bars would let him in. He went on the road in his late teens,
and travelled across Canada and the U.S., all the while writing and performing.
This self-taught musician delights audiences with his wit and mischievous sense of humour, as well as his clever
lyrics that can range from tongue-in-cheek and provocative, to sincere and romantic.
Melwood has performed on bills with Jane Siberry, Loreena McKennitt, Ron Sexsmith, David Lindley and the legendary
Steve Goodman to name a few.
